In 2009, we acquired the assets of the Centre Québécois d’expertise en production porcine (CQEPP) in order to diversify our activities and provide a range of services to the province’s hog industry.
The hog complex aims to increase the competitiveness of Quebec’s hog industry and is designed to meet the industry’s training, applied research, and technology transfer needs. It comprises:
- A 125 sow/2,750 grower-finisher pig production unit
- 1 maternity unit
- 2 farrowing rooms
- 2 nurseries
- 5 finishing units with slatted floors
In the late 1990s, we decided to boost Quebec’s sheep industry by giving the Centre d’expertise en production ovine du Québec (CEPOQ) access to our sheep-rearing facilities, including sheep barns, a lambing room, an operating room, and a laboratory.
Using an outsourcing approach, the centre of expertise has become a key player in sheep research, recognized across the country.
CEPOQ currently has 22 employees. Its main focus areas are health, genetics, reproduction, technology transfer, meat quality, and consulting.
